I decided that if I could paint that flower in a huge scale, you could not ignore its beauty.

I've finally got a university project i'm rather happy with, this is probably my second dabble at surface pattern design, but it's definitely an area i'd like to get more involved in. The brief was simply Scale. I found the Georgia O'Keefe quote and worked from there.

I'm not too happy with it, but it took too long to just discard.

He's one of a few who is worth all the trouble.

pens and pencils.

I've been going back to pencils after viewing the Contents May Vary exhibition at Urbis, Manchester. I am biased, being a Mancunian, but the Manchester showcase outdid the New York one by miles.

the best often die by their own hand

After watching Factotum, it re-ignited my passion for Bukowski, hence the change of blog name and this post heading. If you haven't read anything by him, PLEASE do, his poems, his books, just perfection.

I still can't draw hands for the life of me. Practice practice practice .

Finally, an update.

It's rather telling of my first year at Staff's that i won't be posting much from it, only from the past few weeks of my summer. Hopefully my final year will be better.
I've been experimenting with fine lines, detail, ornate decoration and finally, digital colour. I'm pretty happy with what I have so far, let me know what you think.
